“What is it you want to know?” she asks, a slight tremble in her voice.
“I want to know who you are and where you came from. But more than anything, I want to know what you’re hiding under that scarf.”
The stark pain that enters her eyes strikes me to my fucking core. “Trust me, you don’t want to see what’s under there. I can’t even bear to look at it myself.”
“Nothing scares me.”
It’s a complete lie. She scares the hell out of me.
A heavy silence descends upon us, her pretty eyes wide and fearful.
“What are you so afraid of?” I ask.
Her breath hitches, emotion shining bright in her gaze. “Everything.”
There’s so much despair in that one word that I want to fucking kill whoever put it there. Unable to resist, I gently drop my forehead on hers, my jaw locking as I restrain myself from doing what I really want to do.
“I’m going to respect your privacy…for now. But one day, you’re going to tell me who made you so afraid. And if they’re still breathing—they won’t be for much longer.”
Her eyes fall closed, lip trembling as she tries to shield her pain from me. “Some secrets, Kolan, are best left unknown.”
“Not between us. The day will come when there will be no more secrets between us.”
Her eyes open, locking with mine, but she remains silent. I press my lips to her forehead then reach for the door handle. “Come on. Let’s go home.”

There's just something about KC's writing that pulls me in, right from the very first word. Through every sentence, paragraph and chapter right up until the end she has you feeling every raw emotion her characters feel.
I came across her books randomly a little over a month ago when i one clicked fighting temptation, i adored the men of honor series. Honestly i didn't think i'd love another of her books as much. Until i went on to the Acts of honor, Kolans story was one i couldn't wait to get too.
I always find im either smiling hard or a blubbering mess by the end of KC's books, if not a combination of both. Her writing is flawless, her female characters are beautiful even when theyre a little bit broken and her leading men are hot as fuck with hearts of pure gold.
Kolan and Sophies story is something beautiful.
Sophie or Lia as she's now known is running from her past, she's gone from being a confident, happy young girl to a broken, lonely soul. She finally settles in Sunset Bay, feeling a little safer than she has but still that fear overrides everything. Every choice or decision she makes, she's afraid.
Until she meets Kolan, retired EFC fighter now running the local gym with friends, he's captivated by sophie the moment she walks into the gym looking for self defence classes. He know's theres more than meets the eye with her, something she's just not willing to admit yet.
When her secrets are shared will he still be able to keep her safe? Will they overcome everything that happens?
Their relationship is beautiful. KC Lynn has a way of creating such realtionships between any of her characters, even if they have to fight through some horrific situations to get there. The secondary characters are always as amazing as the main Oh Benny i fell so in love with this boy.
This authors books have me in awe of her, Like all of her books this was no different when it came to devouring it within a few hours. I couldn't put it down and when all was said and done i did what i always do when finishing one of her stories, i put down my kindle, i closed my eyes and sighed in sheer happiness that i found this amazing lady and her outstanding books.
Filled with so much angst, suspense and even more love. Hot as fuck chemistry and swoon worthy moments, KC Lynn has yet again created another masterpiece. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this whole book. Kolan and Sophie are by far my favourite couple.
